The Associated Press reports that "the U.S. Department of Agriculture says the vast majority of states participating in its National School Lunch Program have opted to order ground beef that doesn't contain" lean finely textured beef, better known as pink slime, a filler "made of fatty bits of beef that are heated to remove much of the fat, then treated with a puff of ammonia to kill bacteria." I've been saying this almost since the beginning. No matter how you feel about lean finely textured beef, public opinion has reached the point where it can't be used anymore. It is time to move to the next issue... PWS 29 |
