The Lakeland Ledger reports that while Publix’s Pix convenience store format seems to be satisfying customers and building sales, the company has no plans to expand beyond the current four units that it is operating.
In addition to traditional c-store items, the units also offer a prepared and fresh food program, as well as gasoline. The fresh foods are sourced from nearby Publix stores; the grocery selection is a mix of national brands and the Public private label.
Some local analysts have expressed surprise that Publix hasn’t moved faster, seeing as how mainstream supermarkets have been expanding quickly into the gasoline business.

- On the other hand, maybe Publix has a magnificent master plan for expansion and just doesn’t want anyone to know about it. Yet.
