Albertsons has stopped renting “sanitized” version of R-rated movies in response to a lawsuit filed by the Directors Guild of America (DGA).

The agreement between the retailer and the company making the edited versions insures that Albertsons has no legal culpability, according to reports.

The DGA sued on the grounds of copyright infringement. The company editing the films was essentially cutting out anything it felt might offend viewers; the movies affected included such films as “Saving Private Ryan.”

Good for the DGA.
