- The French government has removed its six-year ban on the sale of British beef, a ban originally instituted because of concerns about mad cow disease.
The ban had been a source of some consternation in the European Union, since the rest of the EU already had lifted its ban. France, however, refused to do so until now. - Casino has denied reports that it is negotiating to sell its Polish stores to Wal-Mart, calling them unsubstantiated “rumors.”
