business news in context, analysis with attitude

Reuters reports that Priceline.com has developed a partnership with online care site Autobytel for a “name your own price” approach to used cars.

Autobytel owns several used car selling sites, and Priceline will get a fee when it refers buyers to them.
KC's View:
We mention this story for several reasons…

1. We practically made a living criticizing Priceline in its old WebHouseClub days, so it only seems fair to mention the company when it gets into a more logical business.
2. It is interesting that both Priceline and Wal-Mart see the used car business as profitable and desirable. Can you imagine what would happen if these two companies teamed up?
3. Priceline’s leadership always struck us as being used car salesmen anyway…so this just makes sense.
