Longs Drugs Stores, the 447-store drug chain, named Warren F. Bryant, who resigned from Kroger Co. yesterday after almost four decades with the company, to be its President and CEO.
Bryant will succeed Harold Somerset, a Longs board member who took the job last February following the resignation of Steve Roath. Somerset now becomes vice chairman of the company and Mr. Bryant will join the Longs board, which is chaired by Bob Long.
Bryant most recently was senior vice president at Kroger, responsible for seven of its 18 divisions, including Fred Meyers Stores.
