Following on the heels of McDonald’s announcement that it would reduce the amount of trans fats in its cooking oils, Frito Lay reportedly will eliminate trans fats from Cheetos, Doritos and Tostitos next year.
The American Heart Association believes that trans fats may be more damaging to a person’s health than saturated fat.
Trans fats are created when liquid fats, such as corn or soybean oil, are treated with hydrogen to make them solid at room temperature. They are not labeled as trans fats on food products.
