Reports out of the UK indicate that Tesco’s attempt to rapidly expand its c-store count around the country could face legal and regulatory challenges. Last month, it moved to acquire the T&S c-store group there, but now Budgens, another c-store company, has asked Britain’s Competition Commission to investigate the deal on the grounds that it is anti-competitive.

Tesco’s goal has been to expand its c-store Tesco Express count from the current 100 to more than 500 over the next three or four years.
