- Giant Food Inc. said that it is cooperating with Fairbank Farms, Inc. to recall 93 percent Lean Ground Beef, Ground Sirloin, Ground Round, Ground Chuck, and 75% Lean Regular Ground Beef with "sell by" dates of November 8, 2002 through November 23, 2002. Also included is Giant Meatloaf and Meatball Mix with "sell by" dates of November 15, 2002 and November 16, 2002 sold in Giant/Super G stores. The recall was undertaken after a routine inspection by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) turned up positive.
- Inter-American Products, a Kroger-owned food distributor, recalled half-gallon cartons of Country Club Deluxe cookies 'n cream ice cream because the product may contain peanuts.
