- Two things are equally important, in our view. One is to regulate this area closely so that there is no cross-contamination. The other is to make sure that legitimate research and development in the biotech area continues unabated. The report earlier this week that scientists at Cornell university have come up with a strain of rice that can stand up to drought and other adverse weather conditions seems like ample evidence of the importance of this area of research.
