- James F. "Fully" Clingman, H.E. Butt Grocery Co.'s president and chief operating officer, will retire from the company sometime after New Year's Day, according to the San Antonio Express-News No successor has been named.
Clingman was appointed president in 1996, having joined the company in 1975.
- Supervalu Inc. has named Richard Lane to be president of the company's Eastern region, which is based in Richmond, Va. He will report to Mike Jackson, SUPERVALU executive vice president, president and COO, Distribution Food Companies. Lane will replace Gary Zimmerman, who will retire effective February 22, 2003.
Lane is currently executive vice president, Supply Chain, for Supervalu’s Eastern region
- Retail Forward, the retail research and strategy consulting firm, announced the promotion of Lois Huff to Senior Vice President. She will also serve on the company’s Executive Committee.
Ms. Huff has over 15 years of retail market research and consulting experience, specializing in the development of retailer and supplier market positioning and channel strategies and has specific expertise in the design, analysis, and application of market research to the strategic planning process. Ms. Huff also has expertise in consumer demographics, attitudes, and behaviors related to the retail shopping process.
