business news in context, analysis with attitude

The Arizona Republic reports that ConocoPhillips may sell many or all of its 3,700 Circle K c-stores as it moves away from retailing to focus on oil and gas productions.
KC's View:
Since this move in part is in reaction to heightened competition coming from companies such as Wal-Mart, Costco, Albertsons and Kroger, wouldn’t it be interesting if one of these four chains decided that it would like to have a nice little c-store company to add breadth to its overall retail efforts?

It would, in our opinion, be a transformative move for the industry.
