There have been reports out of Northern Ireland, and they have been gaining some currency on trade sites here in the US, that Superquinn in Ireland is about to be acquired…probably by one of the companies in the bidding war for Safeway Plc.
MNB has checked with our Irish sources, and we’ve been told that this rumor is 100 percent untrue -- that Superquinn is not on the market, and being a private company, cannot be taken over unless the Quinn family agrees.
