Nash Finch Co. announced that it has been told by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that it does not object to how the company accounts for vendor charges and allowances. The company says it is still cooperating with an SEC investigation, and has hired Ernst & Young to audit its 2002 financial statements. Deloitte & Touche, its former auditor, resigned effective Jan. 28.

The company said it will shortly determine when it can release its third quarter and 2002 annual results, which have been on hold during the probe.
