- American Greetings Corp. posted net profit for the fourth quarter ended Feb. 28 of $45.4 million, compared with a loss of $13.1 million a year earlier. However, quarterly sales fell 6.4 percent to $525.9 million from $562.1 million a year ago, attributed to the loss of key customers like Winn-Dixie and the closure of more than 600 Kmart stores.
- Starbucks Corp. reported that sales at stores open at least a year rose seven percent in March from a year earlier, with net revenues of $380 million for the five weeks ended March 30, a 20-percent increase from the same period a year earlier.
