The Major League Baseball playoffs begin today, as it took until the final weekend of the season to finalize who would be playing where and when.

The contenders:

National League East Champions - Atlanta Braves

National league Central Champions - Milwaukee Brewers

National League West Champions - Los Angeles Dodgers

Wild Card Teams - Philadelphia Phillies, Miami Marlins, Arizona Diamondbacks

American League East Champions - Baltimore Orioles

American League Central Champions - Minnesota Twins

American League West Champions - Houston Astros

Wild Card Teams - Tampa Bay Rays, Toronto Blue Jays, Texas Rangers

The best-of-three Wild Card round starts today, with the Rangers facing off against the Rays, the Blue Jays playing the Twins, the Diamondbacks playing the Brewers, and the Marlins playing the Phillies.

KC's View:

There's usually one Wild Card team that makes a run deep into the playoffs, and I have no idea which one it'll be.  I know I'm rooting for a seven-game Orioles-Dodgers World Series, and that the Dodgers are triumphant in the end;  but I also know that the road the World Series almost certainly goes through Atlanta, and they scare me.
