In 2018, 47 percent of major companies had some version of a Chief Diversity Officer. By 2022, it was up to 75 percent. But in a case of three steps forward, two steps backward, there has been a backlash against the concept, some of it cultural and some of it legislative. I think the backlash misunderstands the notion of diversity, which is something in which I believe - not because I'm woke, but because I believe that companies do better when they have diversity in their workforces and diversity in their executive suites.
