business news in context, analysis with attitude

I'm going to take tomorrow off, enjoying a three-day weekend as I celebrate my 69th trip around the sun.

Have a great weekend, and I'll see you Monday.

But … I cannot leave for the weekend without mentioning that tomorrow, Jimmy Buffett's final original album, "Equal Strain On All Parts," will be released.

Some of the songs, with accompanying videos, already are out, including a cover of Bob Dylan's "Mozambique" (the most Buffett-like song ever written by Dylan, who was a big fan of Buffett's songwriting skills);  "My Gummie Just Kicked In," with Paul McCartney playing backup;  and "Bubbles Up," a reflective, almost elegiac number that certainly brought a tear to my eye.
